I Stole the Showbread
by capncrunch93
A photograph still taped
To the rear-view mirror
So that when I look behind
I always see you too near
I wish I could stop thinking
And clear my word-filled head
But then I would be so thoughtless
I’d be contemplating stolen bread
I stole the showbread
When I stole your heart
I made an off’ring
To reconcile this part
I broke my promise
Like a rainbow ends at red
And being so heartless,
I stole your showbread
They all stare me
And I wonder, “Is it all for show?”
Sometimes I feel I’d live off wire
Rather than feel that which I do not know
My name is Divided
So I’m living apart
From all we decided
Would form up our heart
Form up our heart
I stole your showbread
When I stole your heart
I made an off’ring
To reconcile this start
I broke my promise
And now my chest is all red
And being so heartless,
I stole the showbread

I like it.
Very creative use of the showbread metaphor. Good work.
